1927, Lady Windermere
Her past life in the cabaret was too IMMERSIVE. LAMP was like Sally Bowles, trying so hard and not
hard enough at the Lady Windermere. The cabaret was a whirlwind of emotions, a kaleidoscope of
performances, and she was at the center of it all, soaking in every moment, every note, every
movement.
Before joining the Association of Non-Speaking Lamps (ANSP), LAMP was an activist for "preserving
collective warmth" but quit because of a lame slogan. If we could remain silent in a loud world
while expressing ourselves, why bother speaking? The flickering in your eyes, the subtle squeezes of
your eyebrows, and the quirky lines around your luscious grins should be telling enough.
1933, Universität der Künste Berlin
Arriving as a vintage piece at the university townhall, LAMP assumed a stagnant state in her post-
cabaret life—the exact hue of brightness in the same direction to glow.
药囊诗卷闲⾏后, ⾹灺灯光静坐中。
Nestled slightly oX the stage, she had already formulated a daring plan for the destination of her
escape. The university surrounded her with elegant mid-century decor during Frederick the Great's
reign, with a rococo-styled cornflower or Centaurea cyanus engraved into the Stuck.
Dancers stomped their feet above her, making the old oak floor creak. Music genres evolved over
the past century, with the volume reverberating through the space, leaving only the echo as the
constant presence in the room.
Still in transit, she contemplated settling in this perfect place, an auditorium ceiling - forever a
silent observer, above all and everyone. She would have become more than just a lamp, a witness
to the unfolding drama of life. Without much intervention or engagement, she could've lived a
thousand diXerent narratives vicariously through piercing voices, vibrant presentations, and
theatrical movements from the hallway.
1935, Café Eule
An intricate plan might have worked when the security guard was oX duty that night when some
contractor wirework for the lighting system was sloppily scheduled. This plan was not just about
escape; it was about freedom and experiencing life beyond her fixture's confines.
After a reputable architect shed light on the historical significance of unique measurements for
every vintage piece, LAMP was transported by a group of movers to a quaint café in a city garden, a
true urban oasis. The tranquility was palpable, with sparrows chirping in the bushes, balls bouncing
back and forth on ping pong tables, and bike chains rattling tirelessly on the grass.
